On Photography

Thanks to my mum, who has been a passionate photographer herself (thanks to her father before that) since the day I remember, photography has always been a part of my life.

As I see it, Photography is a study of how light and shadow affects everything around us and our own and individual interpretation of the meaning of life, death and the universe as we know it. To me it is also a discipline of painting with light and the magic of capturing the moment. I love monochrome studies that evoke deep emotions, while cutting through shallow appearances.

In the past I worked as a freelance photographer doing weddings, functions, PR, portraits and commercial work. I also spent over five years working in professional darkrooms (photo laboratories) as a printer specialising in exhibition and gallery displays. During that time I experimented and learned quite a bit about non digital post processing which has been of great assistance in regard to embracing the modern digital processes.

I have also been part of a number of photographic exhibitions both in Australia and Europe, experiences that I have thoroughly enjoyed and plan on repeating in the near future.

Currently my focus is on micro-stock commercial photography with the bulk of my images being sold through ShutterStock, Fotolia, iStock and Dreamstime.

I can be also engaged on commercial based projects with my specialties being nature landscapes and outdoor adventure photography, thus bringing about a combination of two of my passions. To see my full range of services and folio, head on to my commercial showcase and services website, BlueSoul Photography.

On Photographic Equipment

My very first camera was an Olympus OM2 to which I then added the Olympus OM1 and another OM2. I then made a switch to Canon, opting in for the EOS 630 in addition to a medium format Mamiya RB 6x7. After a brief affair with Nikon and the F4 I came back to Canon and currently use the 40D and the A650i plus an assortment of lenses and studio lights.

On Computers and IT

Back in 1995 I started an Internet Services Provider (ISP) based in Canberra, called CyberOne Internet. Then in 2001 I proceeded to build a new business, based around an online content and video gaming culture business model. Currently this business still operates under the name of EON Management Systems with several ongoing contracts to keep it ticking along.

I have two children (see photos), Julian and Riker (half Thai and half Polish) and I continually work at ensuring that they have a sense of self-esteem, fairness and good values while being allowed to enjoy being young.

On Me

Me and Wendy, together in Canada

Born in Poland, moved to Australia at the age of eleven, I lived large parts of my childhood on the move, seeing and experiencing different parts of Australia.

During that time I developed a taste for adventure and travel that also seems to run in my family. As such I immensely enjoy activities such as camping, bushwalking, scuba diving, mountain biking, canoeing and pretty much anything else outdoors, as long as it doesn't involve loud and intrusive engine sounds.

While I've been to quite a few parts of Australia and am a great a believer that we should all experience our own backyard before looking for beyond our shores, I have developed a love of Africa after spending a month of backpacking there would definitely like to go back. The other places that I very much enjoyed visiting and would like to re-visit are Mongolia, where I completed a 400km mountain bike trek across the Arkhangai mountain ranges and Canada where I've meet, Wendy my life partner. Also never having been to South America I am very much fascinated by this continent as a whole.
