Description
he Hātea River is a river of New Zealand. It flows from the north-east of Whangarei southwards and into the northern head of Whangarei Harbour. Its lower length forms the eastern boundary of the city. The banks along the lower reaches are parks and bushland with a series of metalled walks suitable for all weathers.
The Hatea River Walk is a fantastic walk in the Northland town of Whangarei the walkway follows the Hatea River from the Whangarei Falls all the way to the town basin where the river empties into the Whangarei Harbor.
The walkway is connected with a series of shorter walks that can be walked in shorter sections or one continuous three hour walk from the Whangarei basin to the Whangarei Water Falls or the other way from the Waterfall to the town basin.
